Current Situation

Innovation Centre Denmark and the Consulate General of Denmark are actively supporting Danish startups in gaining a foothold in Germany and working towards the next level of scaling. With various programmes, founders have several possible contact points, e.g. in Munich and Berlin.

Danish Startup Delegation

As part of the Danish Startup Delegation, 5-7 selected founders of the Copenhagen Business School in Munich will join the Startup Programme to pitch in front of investors and discuss and exchange ideas about the German investor landscape together with their Startup Managers.  

CANUTE

The CANUTE Startup Programme will be held at the Danish Embassy in the heart of Berlin. A total of ten Danish seed and series A startups are taking part in a three-day workshop. Among other things, they are aiming for a go-to-market in the D-A-CH region. In addition to a final startup pitch based on the TV format “Die Höhle der Löwen”, 30 to 40 investors will be available on site for questions and feedback.

GOB2B_Munich

The GOB2B_Munich format is another six-day workshop to be held at the Danish Consulate in Munich. The focus will be on B2B tech start-ups looking for strategic partners and investors in Germany. 10 startups were selected for the event.

Challenge

In order to make start-ups “investor-ready”, a basic understanding of the venture capital industry as well as a sure instinct for the presentation of a start-up is necessary. Relevant investor questions should not only be known, but should also be penetrated and meaningful answers prepared in advance.

It is also a challenge to quickly find suitable founders from the variety of startups that fit into one of the programs offered. Necessary steps therefore include:

Facing the various challenges, Capmatcher actively supports the selection of start-ups as well as the follow-up, i.e. the subsequent training and mediation of the start-ups.

Onboarding Startups

Danish startups use the free opportunity to go through the Capmatcher onboarding process and sharpen their understanding of investor-relevant issues in an educational questionnaire. The startups also receive individual feedback on their project as well as a free three-page exposé summarising the key data of the startup in a compact format.

The Innovation Centre Denmark and the Consulate General of Denmark will receive copies of the exposés in order to be able to provide further support to start-ups from Denmark and to obtain an initial basis for decisions on suitability. On request, Capmatcher will also provide objective ratings of the start-ups.
